I find that generally life in the US seems to roar and rush and personally i am feeling very stressed out all the time, because i have too much to do. It’s so very different in Europe. At least in Geneva people seem to be so relaxed. They do not work 10-12 hours a day, they work their 8 hours and go home! And in the streets they seem to be calm and laid back. At least this is my impression.
Life is going slowly. I have been here for three weeks already, but don’t feel being very advanced with my research at WHO. Life feels like one long ongoing vacation.
In a way it reminds me very much of my last year preacademic course in Buffalo. Oh, what a nice time it was!!!! And I think i have this impression because of the same kind of weather (very hot!!! and humid also!) and lots and lots of international people all over the place. Well… not in WHO. It’s kind of sad, but most interns I see in this respected international organization are Americans!!! Well, they say that in winter, when americans mostly study, WHO is flooded with Europeans. Some Chinese, some African, very few from South America and i have met NOBODY from the former Soviet block… Well, which is understandable, you need to have some resources to be able to afford to intern in one of the most expensive countries in the world without getting a salary. Thanks to my friends and parents, who could lend me some money…
